Pretend Friday

So we've had two Pretend Fridays this month. What's Pretend Friday? It's any other weekday that leads to the weekend; for example, St. Patrick's Day was Pretend Friday although it landed on a Wednesday because I was off from work the following day and Friday 19 is a public holiday.

Yesterday, Tuesday, was also Pretend Friday because today is a(nother) public holiday, tomorrow I'm off from work and Friday is Good Friday and therefore no work again - this week was effectively a two-day working week and a five-day weekend... as it ought to be ;)

Connect with me

As someone who works in social media I obviously have my own accounts lingering around the web. I consider Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to be the most popular ones albeit for different reasons. Flickr is just a great photo sharing website via which you can network and make lots of new contacts. If you'd like to add me on any of these sites please go ahead, just tell me who you are and that you're contacting me through my blog. I'm especially loving Twitter at the moment :)

St. Patrick's Day 2010

So yesterday was St. Patrick's Day and although he's not Malta's patron saint we like to celebrate as much as the next guy, and any excuse is a good excuse! Just check out a couple of photos from yesterday's celebrations. The hats were given with every pint of Guinness bought; the garland of shamrocks I bought from London as well as the badge that you can see on my sleeve which says 'World's Cutest Leprachaun'. I bought a packet of badges and distributed them to the bar staff, so they all had a different badge.

May the luck of the Irish enfold you and may the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you

Stationery delights

Since I've moved out of home my return address labels have become redundant so I took the opportunity to select some new ones :) Obviously the whited-out part is where my name and address is - I'd rather not display it to the world wide web (unless you plan on sending me presents and flowers ;P)

And to go along with these I also ordered 2 different pads of sticky notes. The first one matches the labels and I thought that it was really cute. Whilst the second one I just adored the pattern.

Steps Towards Positivity

Between my previous post and the one that I'm writing now, I had my birthday and turned 28. For some reason I have a feeling that 28 will be a good year. Well, there are already indications as to why that will happen; however, overall I predict positivity.

Speaking about positivity, that's something that I've been looking into recently. There are many factors that can affect one's mood and whether one gives out positive vibes or not. It stems from simple things like a smile, the way one carries oneself, the colours one wears (bright colours are positive), and so on.

I believe that people tend to blame the media for feeling insecure about the way we look/our job/our lifestyle, or to blame past events or other people - simply because it's easier to shift the blame than to accept it and deal with it. However, before we learn to love who we are and what we do, then we cannot be positive. And if we cannot appreciate ourselves, then how can others appreciate us?

We all have our bad days, denying that would be foolish and a lie; it's when the bad days become every day that problems arise. I'm not a mentor in this, if anything I'm more the student, working everyday towards being more positive in life. However, I believe that it's good to talk about these matter and I'm not afraid or ashamed to say that I could be more positive in my outlook on things and I am working on it. If you can relate to me, leave me a comment!

Happiness is not in our circumstances, but in ourselves. It is not something we see, like a rainbow, or feel, like the heat of a fire. Happiness is something we are
