Yesterday was EC's pre-summer party; the party where everyone eats and drinks to gear up for the tough summer months approaching. But they're not going to be tough for me... ha ha. Our depatment doesn't deal with them *ring the bells* But any excuse is good enough for me :)
We had Bedouin Bar to ourselves, and we filled it! Yummy BBQ and semi-open bar made things even better, as did the cool summer breeze. It was a gorgeous setting. The evening was just one laugh after the other and since I was in possession of a camera (not mine) there are plenty of photos - some good, and some probably of the floor! Those ones are known as 'artistic'. Hopefully I'll get my hands on them and upload a few on Flickr.
And because I am odd, I woke up at 7:00 a.m. today, despite getting in at 2:00 a.m. I COULD have woken up an hour later, but nooo... *sigh* It's been a long day and I haven't studied anything today. I need to know the difference between qualitative and quantitative by Monday. I guess that's what the weekend is for.

Poetry Plus
This evening I went to my first experience of Poezijaplus because they were discussing The DaVinci Code and I am astounded by the media frenzy that this book received. I haven't actually read it yet, nor have I seen the film, but I will do both, without getting my sentiments hurt, because I have greater faith in myself and my upbringing than to allow myself to be influenced by a book. Especially a book that is not actually saying anything new, because we've heard the marriage allegations before The DaVinci Code expressed them.
But, back to Poezijaplus; I really enjoyed it. I didn't quite know what to expect, but it was excellent. The atmosphere inside the Manoel Theatre Courtyard was lovely and the speakers were really interesting, especially Trevor Zahra and a lecturer whose name I didn't catch. I like listening to interesting people speak.
I also met Robert there whom I hadn't seen in quite a while.
And as always when in Valletta I kept to my Jubilee + book tradition just before the event began. And before that I went round the shops a bit, and was really really disciplined. I only bought myself a cool pair of sunglasses from Accessorize, so they were cheap. But I saw the greatest underwear and pj's at La Senza and I really really want them. So now I'm waiting to get paid :)

Fabrizio Fa niente
Illami what a farce! Bye bye Fabrizio.
12 points to Switzerland - get me a sick bag!
Slightly disappointed that Lithuania didn't win, but I'm sure that next year's entries are going to be all costumes cos everyone likes to copy what won the year before.
Ah well, at least I didn't have to hear that hamalla on TVM this time - go Terry Wogan
Good night all :)

Who'll be the winners
yes, I am watching the Semi-Finals of the Eurovision Song Contest and I think it's the most entertaining ever. There are some of the worst songs that I've ever heard - yep, the true colours of the Eurovision keep shining through as the years go by.
That last song was to die for... I'm Silvia Bright and I've arrived, la la la... me me me. Fabulous dahlink! hehe And Lithuania (who have just gone through) singing We are the winners of the Eurovision!
But of the songs that are already in I really do like Denmarks's song -
He didn't know how to twist, he didn't know how to make a girl exist, he didn't know how to move, he didn't know how to groove, he didn't know how to twist
But as always there is something that must ruin it, and that something is Eileen Montesin. Take her off the air!!! Please! She really has got a face for radio, although not quite the voice for it. And yet we insist on pasting her on billboards, bus stops and television where we not only have to see her we're forced to see her too!!! AAAHHHH.
And tonight she was no better. Stupid comments. Talking over the presenters. Horrible accent - she can't speak English to save her life but her Maltese is nothing to write home about. Maybe one day we'll learn that it takes more than red hair dye and popularity in the 80s to make a person right for public appearance.

Can I wait for 4 weeks to get my hair cut?
Yesterday was a non-stop day filled with work, rehearsal meeting and dinner. But I did everything :)
First rehearsal meeting of Shakespeare (woo hoo). It was very informative - it just took me a minute to come up with the word! informational? informing? inform...? *sigh* Now I have another thing to squeeze into my already tightly packed schedule, but it's ok, as long it's a leisure thing and not in any way work or uni related then the day will stretch to include it.
After that I had a fenkata in Mgarr with my colleagues, and I managed to find my way there from St. Venera without getting too lost :) Ooh the rabbit was nice, we all emerged from the place stuffed with seams bursting. But it was worth it.
Now it's time to start and finish my last text-based assignment (I still have 2 design ones to do) so that tomorrow I can hand everything in and wait for the A's to continue rolling in hehe. And at some point today I also have to put petrol and oil in the car and go and buy a water heater!

I'm not short, I'm fun-sized
I just heard this song on the radio! *($&*^*!@#&%# ... what's he trying to say? And then there's that stanza (italicized) that throws the whole song off!
Short People
Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
To live
They got little hands
Little eyes
They walk around
Tellin' great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet
Well, I don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
`Round here
Short People are just the same
As you and I
(A Fool Such As I)
All men are brothers
Until the day they die
(It's A Wonderful World)
Short People got nobody
Short People got nobody
Short People got nobody
To love
They got little baby legs
That stand so low
You got to pick 'em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That go beep, beep, beep
They got little voices
Goin' peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
Well, I don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
'Round here
Short People
Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
To live

Little eyes

Notti Magiche
I'm so glad that I went to watch An Evening with Gary Lineker tonight because it made, what was otherwise a particularly bland, uninteresting, stressful weekend, bearable. It was hilarious and I loved it all. And now I really want to get back on the stage. I need something else in my life apart from work and studying, even though the latter ends in a month's time!
It insane how quickly this year passed. Eventful surely. But these last assignments are really stressing me out, they seem like such a waste of time when I have two finals coming up and there's so much to study! But I refuse to get anything lower than a B - I'm on a roll :) Hopefully this will be the last week of all lectures; I'll finish all assignments and then three weeks of (finding) and studying notes from the years 2000-2003!!
In vehicular news, the car has been valeted and is now free of years of somebody else's dirt :) I've pretty much got used to driving it, even without power steering, but not quite used to parking yet, so if there's a grey Fiat Tipo trying to park in front of you and the engine goes off, please don't hoot at the driver who you probably will not even manage to see due to height limitations. Just be patient :P
